Why I Travel

I take travelling very seriously, more than just an inspirational quote that you’ve seen somewhere on the internet. Travelling is a state of mind, a lifestyle, a total surrender of what you know and who you are deep inside.

I never really grasped the power of travelling until few years ago when going to the other side of the world allowed me to be the best possible version of myself. An unforgettable encounter with my soul and heart far from everything that I knew. It shook me to the core, being alone in an unknown place surrounded by strangers and all I needed to do was building myself back up and finally decide who I wanted to be.

Travelling has been my way of coping with the darkest times by bringing the brightest lights to my life. It was a long process of understanding the true meaning of it. What do we travel for? to escape? to survive? to have fun? So many questions crossed my mind at the time, and to find the reason why I had this urge to live my life at its fullest It took me a while. But guess what? It all make sense now and I can enjoy travelling knowing it has this salvation effect on me.

We only live once on this planet. I fear and feel like everyone else but more than anything else I don’t want to have any regrets. It is the worst, so I made a promise to myself that as long as I can breathe I will explore this world and try to leave a positive trace. I cannot imagine being stuck in one place, how sad would life be? It is crazy beautiful out there; the nature, the people, the cultures, we all live together but have no clue about each other.

So I travel first to find myself but then I travel to be more accepting, curious, kind, passionate and aware. It is a continuous quest of bettering myself…One place at the time. There are many ways of enjoying travelling. For me it starts with faraway places, I need to feel far from home, from my people so I can truly unplug and experience the intangible motion that comes along. Then I need to immersed myself in the great outdoors to feel alive. Nature has always been something I felt connected to, it is the best reminder that we should never take life for granted, ever.

So hopefully in the next couple of months, years I will be able to share more of my work, my passion and show you that taking the first step is all you need to do. Take that first leap and the rest of your story will unfold.

Trust me it is not easy, but nothing worth having comes easy. So go watch a sunset, climb a mountain, ride a wave, cycle through the woods, sail the ocean, do what whatever it takes to feel alive and don’t forget to share it with someone you love.

This is why I travel.

Love,

A.
