Jervis Bay

"It all began the day I found
That from my window
I could only see
A piece of sky."

After few days in the beautiful city of Sydney, we headed to the south coast of NSW, more precisely Jervis Bay. It is a perfect weekend getaway, located only few hours from the city, it is an easy and beautiful drive.
The protected bay will make you feel at ease, far from the usual crowded beaches, the bay offers plenty of natural wonders. Our host recommended the well known Hyams Beach, often cited as having the whitest sand in the world.

The area in itself is very raw, untouched and quite appealing in some ways. It exudes an aura of peacefulness and has more of a local touch. The weather even though a bit cloudy turned out to be perfect as the beaches are fully exposed with very few shaded spots.
Now let me tell you about the sand, it is unbelievably white, everything is so bright, I cannot imagine how it would be under a full sun. As we arrived, we saw a group of wild dolphins in the bay swimming gracefully, and as we kept on looking we saw even more dolphins without even trying. It was majestic.

The Bay is also known for whale watching, unfortunately we missed the season (may - November) but we were still delighted to have reached such a lovely place. I guess we have been incredibly lucky during our journey to Australia, as the beach was almost empty throughout the day.

You could easily pack your lunch or head to the cutest little coffee shop "Hyams beach Store and coffee", go early if you want to secure a spot on the terrasse.

We mainly spent the day on the beach, snorkeling around and relaxing. The Bay has many more beaches you could go to, but we had a limited amount of time and we wanted to experience it fully.

Here's a glimpse of how happy we were.

Don't even think twice about going there with your loved ones. We loved it and I am sure you will too.
